Dr. Claudia V. Contreras is an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist and Therapeutic Optometrist. Dr. Contreras is excited to join Pediatric Eye Clinic. After learning at a young age that her grandmother's vision was saved from a treatable ocular disease, vision care has always been a passion for her. She is a native Houstonian and spent most of her childhood years in Honduras.

Dr. Contreras completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Biology at the University of Houston. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry, graduating with Cum Laude honors. Her academic achievements during her optometric education earned her numerous accolades including the VSP Practice Excellence Scholarship and the President's IAUPRSO Award, awarded to the top five students with highest GPA.

Dr. Contreras clinical interests are pediatrics, myopia control, specialty contact lenses, and surgical co-management. Dr. Contreras enjoys traveling, discovering new restaurants, and spending time with her husband and children.
