How to detect myopia?
Pediatric Eye Clinic
The main sign that will make us detect the presence of myopia is blurred vision at a distance. Anyway, headache or dizziness can also indicate the presence of myopia.
The only way to reliably detect the presence of myopia is to go to an ophthalmology center where we can carry out the appropriate refractive tests and a complete examination of the eye.
at home
In order to detect the presence of myopia we must examine whether we see clear objects at a long distance or see them blurred. This test that we can do at home must be done first with one eye and closing the other, then we open the one that was closed and close the eye that was open and finally we do the test with both eyes open.
In cases with low myopia in one eye or both, the brain in conjunction with the eye may be making an accommodation effort so that we see clearly, so it is possible that there is still myopia and without blurry vision from afar. . In this situation, we can detect, at home, a possible presence of myopia due to the overexertion that our body makes as a symptom of the typical headaches or visual fatigue.
