Myopia and the COVID-19 pandemic
Pediatric Eye Clinic
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many schools to go virtual. That means kids are spending more time in front of screens and working closely. Social distancing and stay-at-home measures also equate to less time many children spend outside.
These factors worry doctors about the possibility of a great increase in myopia in children. To help reduce the risk of nearsightedness, especially during the pandemic, encourage your child to take frequent breaks from close-up work, spend time outdoors when possible, and limit recreational screen time.
