Pediatric Eye Clinic

Blepharitis is a type of red eye that is painless characterized by an inflammation of the eyelids,

produced by an excess of fat and bacteria on the edge of the eyelid near the eyelashes.

Scales and redness appear at the base of them. It is a common problem that affects around 30% of the population and is related to many cases of dry eye, since it leads to a deterioration in the quality of the tear.

-Redness of the eye and on the edge of the eyelids.
-Foreign body sensation.
-Inflammation of the eyelids.
-Irritation and itching of the eyes and eyelids
-Tearing.
-Ocular dryness.
-Diffuse loss of eyelashes
-Appearance of scales at the base of the eyelashes and / or edge of the eyelids.
-Photophobia.
-Blurry vision.

How can it be prevented?

-Avoid environmental factors that favor its appearance: air conditioning, heating, wind, humidity, etc.

-Maintain an optimal level of blinking to avoid dry eyes.

-Perform proper eye hygiene: wash and wash with warm water and cotton or specifically with eyelid hygiene wipes 3 times a day on a regular basis.

-Avoid the use of cosmetics on the edge of the eyelid.

-Use a cream with moisturizing, soothing and repairing actives especially indicated for eyelids, in order to restore normal hydration conditions in the affected area and eliminate excess flaking.
