Myopia Control

Non Surgical Corneal Molding Doctor in Houston

Myopia Control is using different techniques to help stop the vision from changing every year. Each eye is unique and will require different treatment methods. Schedule a complimentary consultation to create a personalized plan for your eyes. Below is a list of the different treatment options.

Ortho-K (Orthokeratology)

Ortho-K is a specialized treatment for myopia to correct the vision and keep the eyes from changing every year without surgery. Small specialty contact lenses are used at night time to change the shape of the surface of the eye. This change in shape allows clear vision without glasses or contacts during the day. Using Ortho-K affects the peripheral vision to prevent eye elongation and myopia progression.

Multifocal Contact Lenses

Using multifocal contact lenses during the day helps correct the vision and prevents myopia progression. The contacts help prevent over focusing with near work. It also may have affects on the peripheral vision to prevent eye elongation and myopia progression.

Low Dose Atropine Drops

Atropine is an eye drop that causes the eyes to relax and prevents over focusing to prevent myopia progression. In higher concentrations atropine causes the eyes to dilate, but has minimal to no dilation affects in lower concentrations.

Bifocal Glasses

Bifocals help relax the eyes and prevent over focusing while doing near work to help prevent myopia progression. Certain eyes will work best in glasses to help keep from the eyes changing every year.

Combination Treatment

Depending on the age and myopia severity it may be recommended to do a combo treatment. Drops can be added to any treatment to further help prevent progression of myopia. Each child is given a personalized treatment plan according their risk factors.
